Please use varchar type fields in the sql table, those are much faster to query.

The database is being redesigned in 3.0 and already will use VARCHAR fields for most rows storing text.

Not yet. Still working on getting it into a usable alpha state. And it will be a few weeks, I'm going on holiday :)
